The historic Olive Hill C&O Depot was built in 1910 and served the Chesapeake & Ohio Railway as a passenger station until 1971 when Amtrak took over passenger service in the USA. The depot continued be used by the railroad until 1985 when the last train passed by and the rails pulled up. It was a bank immediately following railroad ownership and has housed several businesses over the years. More recently, it served as a community center until it became a welcome center and museum in 2021. Today, we house a large selection of Tom T. Hall artifacts, along with displays of notable locals and Olive Hill history.
The late Tom T. Hall was an internationally recognized country music singer and is originally from Olive Hill. He later moved to Tennessee where he lived the rest of life with occasional visits back to his hometown - the inspiration of the town's annual "Homecoming" event near the 4th of July.
